This format will be played at 35% of the A player’ s individual course handicap and 15% of the B player’s individual course ha ndicap.  \nModified Alternate Shot (Pinehurst)– Each Teammate will tee off.   Teammate “A” will then play Teammate “B”s drive or vice versa.  Two shots are now complete.  On the third shot, the team will choose the best ball o r position to play from and then proceed under the Scramble or Preferred Sh ot format through the green until the ball is holed.  This format will be p layed at 60% of the A player’s individual course handicap and 40% of the B player’s individual course handicap.  The handicaps are combined to make a team handicap \nRules: All play will be governed under the USGA Rules of Go lf.  All tall, native or fescue grass and environmentally sensitive areas t hat border the boundaries of the golf course will be considered a lateral h azard. All balls lost in these areas will be played under the observed loca l rule. Please proceed by determining (in your foursome) where the ball ent ered the penalty area.  Drop your ball nearest point of relief, two club le ngths from the penalty area no closer to the hole. This local rule does not apply to hitting it in the woods and not being able to find the ball (i.e. pulled tee shot into the woods on #11).  This will be considered a lost ba ll and you will proceed under stroke and distance. Conditions of the Competition
Each team is required to sign up by November 5, 2023 by email, call o r in-person to the professional staff.  The 2023 Old Trail Fall Classi c will consist of two Old Trail Guests competing to win their respective fl ight. 

Eligibility:

Old Trail Guest with current USGA handicap as of November 9, 2023.

Flights:

Flights will be based on age, gender and combined team handicaps. We will crown a Gross and Net winner within each flight.

Tees of Play:

Men 59 & under – White Tee M arkers

Men 60 & over - Gray Tee Markers

Women – Red Tee Mar kers

Format:

Day 1: Front 9 - Fourball / Back 9 - Shamble

Day 2: Front 9 – Scramble / Back 9 Pinehurst (modified al ternate shot)

Description of Formats:

Four Ball- Each Teammate will play their own ball through the gree n until their ball is holed.  The team will record their NET Best Ball . This format will be played at 85 % of your individual course handicap.

Shamble (Preferred Drive) – Each Teammate will tee off .  The Team will then choose the best drive of the two.  The team mates will then proceed by playing their own ball through the green until t he ball is holed.  The preferred drive is still applicable on Par 3’s.   This format will be played at 70% of your individual course handicap . The team will record their NET Best Ball.

Scramble (Preferr ed Shots) – Each Teammate will tee off.  The Team will then c hoose the best shot of the two.  The team will continue in the fashion through the green until the ball is holed. This format will be played at 3 5% of the A player’s individual course handicap and 15% of the B player’s i ndividual course handicap.  

Modif ied Alternate Shot (Pinehurst)– Each Teammate will tee off.  Teammate “A” will then play Teammate “B”s drive or vice versa.  Two sh ots are now complete.  On the third shot, the team will choose the bes t ball or position to play from and then proceed under the Scramble or Pref erred Shot format through the green until the ball is holed.  This for mat will be played at 60% of the A player’s individual course handicap and 40% of the B player’s individual course handicap.  The handicaps are c ombined to make a team handicap
