Old Trail was designed to conform to the natural features of the land. Old Trail offers multiple sets of tees to appeal to golfers of all playing abilities. In addition, Old Trail Golf Club is committed to the growth of the game and offers junior markers on all the holes so juniors of all ages can enjoy themselves playing a shorter course more appropriate to their skill level.

The course features A1/A4 bentgrass greens and zoysia fairways with the first cut rough comprised of a bluegrass/tall fescue blend. Areas between holes include native grasses and plants encouraging local wildlife. Old Trail Golf Club has previously hosted the VSGA State Amateur qualifier and the VSGA State Junior Girls Championship.
